Janet Lynch

Instructor

Philosophy – Yoga is an ancient discipline which people been practicing for thousands of years – there might just be something to it...

Janet has been practicing yoga for over 15 years.  She trained as a teacher for 4 years with Maarten Vermaase of the Mahasiddha Yoga group in Oxford. She holds a teaching diploma from the British Wheel of Yoga (the governing body for yoga in the UK).

Janet was initially drawn to yoga as an antidote to the stress of working at senior management level in a highly pressurised Corporate environment in the City.  Janet now focuses much of her efforts towards teaching busy professional people.  For these individuals, a yoga session can make a huge difference on both a physical and mental level.

Janet also dedicates time to teaching ladies who lead demanding lives as mothers. For these ladies, a yoga session can yield massive benefits, lasting long beyond their expectations. Yoga offers them the time and space to nurture their bodies and minds and find some stillness in the midst of what can be a hectic life devoted to the needs of others – often  to the detriment of their own well being.

Janet’s clients include the London College of Fashion, Maersk Shipping Line and PricewaterhouseCoopers.  She works with people who range in age from their 20s to their 60s.  They include; tri-athletes and marathon runners, people with physical disabilities, people with injuries, pregnant ladies, regular people and people who would describe themselves as “couch potatoes” who never imagined that yoga was for them until they tried it... anyone of any shape, size, level of fitness or age can participate in the classes.

Testimonials

“ During the three years spent with Janet, the ability, age and gender of the people attending our classes has varied considerably. Janet is able to adjust the class to make it suitable for everyone, regardless of their ability. She always makes sure that she gives extra help to people who are new to yoga whilst also assisting the more advanced students to ensure that their practice is developed. Janet always asks for feed-back from the class to ensure that classes are tailored accordingly.”

“ The benefits I have enjoyed from attending classes with Janet are many.  There are the obvious ones such as my increased flexibility, my ability to meditate and the calming effects of the breathing exercises on my mind.  Overall I would say that I now have more balance not just in my body but also my mind. Janet is always keen to remind us that the balance we cultivate on our yoga mats should also benefit us once we leave her classes. I would not have second thoughts on recommending Janet as a Yoga teacher.”
