Jef Sutherland

Instructor

Master Jeffrey Alexander Sutherland began his martial arts training in 1977 and went on to become World Champion of the Sam Tu-Dang Golden International Championships in 1992.

In 1990 he began his training in Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi and in 1996 won Gold and Silver medals for Shaolin and Tai Chi respectively. In 1997 he won silver for full contact fighting and In 2005 won silver for his Shaolin Five Tiger’s form.

Master Jef holds a Senior 5th Dan Black Belt in Sam’Tu-Dang and is a qualified Master of Wing Chun Kung Fu. In 2001 he was awarded a Diploma after completing a 3 year teacher training course run by Dr Wen Linjun at the San Ling Wushu College in London qualifying him as a teacher in Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Qigong.

In 2007 Master Jef achieved the black belt instructor level in Wing Chun and in 2008 became an indoor disciple of Grandmaster Samuel Kwok.

He is a 3rd generation disciple of Great Grand Master Ip Man who was the only teacher of the famous movie star and martial artist Bruce Lee.

Master Jef visits Hong Kong each year to train with the son of Ip Man and has the honour of training in the same house that the legendary Bruce Lee was trained in.

He is recognised by the Wing Chun Athletic Association of Hong Kong and is a life time member of the Ip Man Martial Arts Association, Hong Kong as well as a full member of The British Council for Chinese Martial arts.

Master Jef is the founder and chief instructor of the Jeffrey Alexander School of Martial Arts also known as JASMA. Established in 1997, JASMA is the UK’s Leading school of traditional Chinese martial arts providing a unique blend of eight different styles.
